Green Mountain Grill Review Davy Crockett Tailgating Edition

What tailgate is complete with out some amazing grilled goodness? The smell of delicious food wafting through the air makes tailgating great! The good people at Green Mountain Grills have made a grill specifically for all of the tailgaters out there.

We were lucky enough to get our hands on the Davy Crockett model from Green Mountain Grills and gave it a test run.

First, this grill does not run off propane, nor does it use charcoal. Intrigued yet? This grill uses flavored wood burning pellets and electricity to spark the fire. There is a wood burning box on the side of the grill that also has a digital thermostat. This will allow you to manually control the temperature in 5 degree increments from 150 degrees to a blazing 500 degrees.

You can power this grill in a variety of ways. You can use the power from your car battery direct, you can plug it into a 12 volt adaptor or plug directly into your electrical wall outlet.

It takes some getting used to as I had never grilled with this technology, but practice makes perfect. I need to get some more of those awesome wood chips that give off a great aroma while cooking.

PROS: Hi Tech, ability to control exact temperature, high quality parts, aroma from wood chips

Cons: unit is relatively heavy at 57lbs and could be difficult to carry for some. Also there is some assembly required prior cooking. Price is higher than comparative propane or charcoal grills due to the electronics involved. (Currently $379.00)

This is technology meets grilling. Never will you grill the same way again. If you are big into grilling and love technology you need to give this grill a shot.
