National Yard Games Day

national yard games day

We love playing yard games! So much so that we took it upon ourselves to create a National Day that brings out our passion in the sport of playing yard games. National Yard Games Day will be celebrated, annually, the first day of summer. The first day of summer is synonymous with getting outside and having fun with friends and family.

Most people have heard of the classic yard games like cornhole, ladder ball and horseshoes, but there are many great games that you may not have played yet that you could enjoy more than the classics. Each year we will test out a variety of new games and come up with our Top 10 games that are sure to help you celebrate this special day like never before.

When is National Yard Games Day? This day will take place on the first day of summer of each year.

What is National Yard Games Day? Humans have been playing yard games for hundreds of years, but the games we have today far surpass those of our ancestors. Cornhole is the iconic yard game, but there are hundreds of other fun yard games that people are playing every day. It is time to bring the love and passion that so many have for yard games into it’s own national day.

Yard games can help bring family and friends together to compete in their favorite yard game. In an era where we are glued to our phones, getting outside and playing yard games with your loved ones could be one of the most important national days that you celebrate.

Why is this day being celebrated or observed? Being outside with friends, playing yard games, and smiling should be celebrated. There is nothing quite like playing a round of cornhole with your friends in the backyard while having a cold beverage. In our recent survey we learned that the majority of even casual yard game players enjoy playing yard games, most frequently, in June and July. We wanted the first day of summer to be the annual trigger to remind people to get outside and get their yard game on.

How should this day be celebrated or observed? Observe this day in your yard! Pull out your favorite yard games and invite your friends over for a friendly game. Fire up the grill, crack open a cold beverage, pump up some music and then let the yard games begin.
