I LOVE a good fire burning on a cool fall evening, but I hate all the smoke. The unfortunate byproduct of a good fire is all the smoke. No matter where you seem to move the smoke finds you and gets in your hair and stuck in your clothes. Heaven forbid the firepit is near your house and you open the door and then you have a smoky smell in your home too. Smoke is part of a fire, so there’s nothing you can do, right? WRONG! The innovative team at Biolite has made a fire pit to address this need.
The Biolite FirePit is a portable fire pit that uses technology to help reduce the amount of smoke the fire puts out. The Biolite FirePit makes use of air in a way that burns the fire in the cleanest way possible to greatly reduce the amount of smoke that comes from the fire. It was only a matter of time before someone used Bluetooth technology to make a better fire pit.
When I got my Biolite FirePit I was first surprised by how portable it was. In looking at some of the pictures I thought it was going to be much bigger, but it only weighs 20 pounds and you attach two handles on the side to make it simple to bring anywhere. As I continued to unload the box I noticed the orange box that will attach to the side and this is where the magic happens. I plugged the orange box up to charge (it can charge via USB or micro cord too). I then went back to finish assembly, which is quite easy.
I added the two handles to each side of the fire pit that only needs a phillips head screwdriver to tighten. There are fold out legs that lock into place on each corner to raise it off the ground. Aside from that you just need to attach the orange box on the side and you’re all set up.
Let’s talk about this magical orange box that is here to disrupt the fire pit industry. This Bluetooth technology allows you to adjust the airflow to the fire. There are 51 air jets spaced out within the fire pit that put some oxygen around the fire wood you have in the pit. This creates an hyper efficient fire. The cleaner the fire burns the less smoke there is! You can adjust the amount of air that is being sent to the fire as there are 4 speeds of air to find the perfect balance. I found that medium worked the best in my testing.
There is also an app in the Apple App store that can help you see how much battery life is left and allows you to change the speed of the fan from the palm of your hand. You can also change the speed on the orange box itself.
