There are only a few things that we NEED in this life: water, food, shelter, love and AIR (there may be a few others too that you debate). I didn’t know that on average there is only 21% oxygen in the air we breathe. Imagine if that percentage was higher….Now you don’t have to imagine, since there is BOOST OXYGEN. Portable oxygen that is 95% pure and ready to help you catch your breath.
What are some of the reported benefits of better oxygen per HEALTHLINE:
- increase energy levels.
- improve mood.
- improve concentration.
- improve sports performance.
- reduce stress.
- provide relief for headache and migraine.
- promote better sleep.
I take all reported benefits of things with a grain of salt, but I must admit, it makes sense for some benefits to come from having better air to breathe. I’ve struggled with sinus issues, allergies, and asthma, for most of my life. I understand the benefits of getting a full breath of air.
Boost Oxygen has been producing oxygen since 2007, hmmm I must be late to the game, but I digress. They claim their oxygen can help with:
Altitude Acclimation
Health and Wellness
Poor Air Quality
Athletic Performance and Quality
Their Boost Oxygen comes in 3 sizes: Pocket (40 inhalations), Medium (100 inhalations) and Large (200 inhalations). Oh and did I mention they come in FLAVORS?! Who knew that oxygen had flavors? Well they do and they are pretty awesome. The flavors are: Peppermint, Natural, Pink Grapefruit and Menthol-Eucalyptus. We got our hands on each flavor to put them to the Tailgating Challenge.
Luke what does tailgating have to do with oxygen? That is a fair question and we tested these outside of the tailgate, on top of a mountain. Since coming to Colorado we have been hiking, quite a bit. Elevation can be anywhere from 8,000 to 14,000 feet over sea level and no matter how much I hike I still have to pause to take deep breaths along the way. I wanted to see what Boost Oxygen would do on these hiking adventures. We assembled the crew, gave everyone a bottle, and started the hike up.
We paused for our first stop and everyone took out their Boost Oxygen and took a few inhalations. Wow this tastes good, I like this stuff, I think it’s working, were the comments we each iterated, with smiles on our face. We continued our hike to the summit and after scrambling up to make it to the peak of our favorite, not as well known mountain, we again looked to catch our breath and took quite a few hits off the Boost Oxygen.
Overall, I’m a fan of Boost Oxygen. I like the flavored ones better than the Natural, but they all achieve the same goal. Pink Grapefruit is my favorite. It was like we had an oxygen bar on top of the mountain, how cool is that. In addition to the oxygen tasting good I believe it did help with catching our breath faster. Some hikers mentioned twice as fast as normal.
You can take a big inhalation, or slowly pull the trigger for a slower release. When you pull the trigger make sure you take a deep breath and hold it in for a minute.
Did we mention that oxygen weighs next to nothing, so even having numerous bottles of this in my pack for testing was adding next to no weight to my pack.
I’m a fan of Boost Oxygen. I have and will again hike without having Oxygen in my pack, but when doing some of the higher elevations, or when the air quality is poor (such as it has been with the largest forest fires in Colorado history) I’ll pack a Boost Oxygen to make the trip that much more enjoyable.
