We have tested a large variety of chairs during the years at Tailgating Challenge and we aren’t easily impressed. Just having a comfortable chair leaves us wanting more. We want a chair that can not only be comfortable, but also add other benefits that will set it apart from the competition. We just got our hands on the all new Solar Chair from Kijaro and now feel safe that our phones will never die again, while we are out having fun in the sun.
The Solar Chair from Kijaro is the first chair that we have seen that has two built in solar panels to ensure your personal electronic devices never go dead. Let’s look at some of the features that this Solar Chair has:
-2 integrated solar panels with dual USB charging ports
-mixed woven polyester fabric
-breathable ballistic mesh
-no-sag seating
-self-standing durable steel frame
-2 versatile all in one cup holders
-built-in carry strap
-zippered carry bag
-Ability to hold up to 400 pounds
-Chair weight = 10.4 pounds
Kijaro has long made durable chairs that have the dual lock technology. This chair takes that sturdy technology and adds the solar panels in the back. The solar panels fold up, or down to ensure you are getting the suns best angle. We locked our Solar Chair into place and pulled the solar panels up and locked them in place with the velcro flaps that are underneath them (see the video below for full set and more tips for this chair) to see how this chair could power up our cell phone.
Also underneath the solar panels is the dual USB ports that will be where you plug your charging cord to power your devices. There is a blue light in the center of the two USB ports that will flash blue when it is getting enough sun to charge your electronics. When you take the chair inside, or the sun goes down you will see this blue flashing light stop. If this light is not flashing and there is no sun you will Not be able to charge your devices.
In regards to charging devices remember that the amount of sun light on the panels will dictate how fast your devices will charge. The more sun the faster they will charge and vice versa. In our tests it took a phone that was almost dead well over 3 hours in direct sunlight to charge up.
The chair has awesome back support. This has always been a trend with the Kijaro products that I have tested in the past and this one is no different. The Dual Lock technology helps ensure this is a sturdy chair experience that won’t let you down, literally. In addition to great back support your back will stay cooler as there is mesh backing over the majority of the back of this Solar Chair.
There are two large cup holders, one on each arm, and there is a divider in the center of each. These are great to expand for the size of the drink you are enjoying and you can also slide your phone, keys etc. into the other section.
When you are done enjoying the fun and sun you can slide the chair back into a zippered chair carry bag. This is the first zippered carry bag that I have seen. This helps you slide the chair back in easier than some other bags.
Overall, this Solar Chair is sturdy, has great back support, and the ability to power your devices. My only wish list item would be to shave a little weight off the chair if someone is having to carry it a longer distance (chair weight = 10.4 pounds).
