Duck Fat Testing

My first thought when I got my Duck Fat Spray in was: “Is this going to make all my food taste like duck?” The short answer is no. I started spraying the Duck Fat Spray into items like meats and vegetables. I also used it for coating my pans prior to cooking things like scrambled eggs.

The first thing I wanted to know was the taste and there was no taste of duck, but it does give a slightly different taste than the olive oil that I’m used to using. I’d describe it (no shocker) as slight fatty taste. For those times I used only short sprays there was no taste change to the food. When I used longer sprays there was a mild taste that complemented the food I was preparing well.

You do not need to refrigerate Duck Fat spray and there is audible ‘thud’ when you shake the bottle. This is the actual duck fat that is inside of the spray can.

I used this on pork chops, chicken and steaks with some good results. My best result was actually with steaks. I sprayed each side with Duck Fat and then placed the seasoning on. After I pulled these off the grill I knew I had made a great steak as my wife, who doesn’t really like steak, had a bite and said “I’d like some more of that please!” Granted a lot goes into a good steak, but Duck Fat Spray was a part of the process.

Duck Fat Steaks Anyone?

Conclusion

PROS: easy to use on a variety of food items, good flavor, low calorie, 700+ sprays

CONS: animal products used in the spray vs plant based products in other sprays on the market

Overall, Duck Fat will have a place in my kitchen moving forward as it pairs well with many dishes. I’m not ditching my olive oil, but Duck Fat Spray will now be a complement to my olive oil in my house.
